“Change begins with the courage to ask for help.”

— Jerusha C. Thomas, SafeHaven Counselling

Are you coping on the outside, but struggling underneath?

You’re managing your responsibilities, showing up, keeping it together. But underneath, something just feels off.

Maybe it’s anxiety that won’t settle, or a constant feeling of restlessness. A heaviness you keep pushing through. Relationship patterns you keep repeating. A loss you have not fully had space to grieve. Or a quiet sense that the way you learned to survive is no longer the way you want to live. Perhaps you don’t even have the words for it yet — and that’s okay.

Counselling offers a space to slow down, make sense of what you have been carrying, and begin responding to yourself with more clarity, compassion, and care — without judgment, and at your pace.

You don't have to keep navigating this alone.

About Jerusha

I believe we all have untapped strengths within us, and that everyone deserves a space where they can be honest with themselves — about their pain, their fears, and their dreams — as they begin to rediscover their zest for life.

I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, panic attacks, self-worth struggles, relationship patterns, grief, trauma, burnout, life transitions, and experiences that may trace back to earlier family or childhood dynamics.

Each of us moves through life at a different pace. My role as a counsellor is to walk alongside you through this therapeutic process. Together, we explore how past experiences, recurring patterns, and beliefs may be shaping your life — and work towards gaining clarity, emotional awareness, and resilience, so you can move forward in a way that is meaningful to you.

My Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) — to help you understand and reshape patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
  • Trauma-informed & Attachment-aware Practice — to explore how earlier experiences and relational patterns may still be affecting you today.
  • Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) — to support deeper emotional processing, especially around attachment, relationships, and unmet needs.
  • Internal Family Systems-informed Practice (IFS-informed) — to help you understand different parts of yourself with greater compassion, especially when there are conflicting emotions, protective patterns, or old wounds.
  • Somatic-informed Tools — to help you notice your body's signals, regulate your nervous system, and build a greater sense of internal safety.

My Journey

Before completing my Master of Professional Counselling at Monash University Malaysia, I worked across business development, project coordination, operations, and community development — experiences across people-centred settings that deepened my respect for the many responsibilities and unseen pressures people carry.

My clinical training has included work in community mental health, crisis response, and structured therapeutic programmes. I bring that breadth into the counselling room — alongside training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, and trauma-informed care, as well as a deep respect for the complexity of each person’s story.

Counselling Journeys

What counselling may look like over time

Counselling is not one-size-fits-all. Some people come with one focused concern, while others need more time to understand deeper patterns, process past experiences, or rebuild a steadier sense of self. These journeys are not fixed packages or promises. They are a way to help you understand what may be possible depending on the length and focus of our work together.

Clarity Journey

Around 3 sessions

A shorter counselling journey for when you want to begin making sense of one focused concern.

This may be suitable if you are navigating a recent stressor, a specific concern, or a pattern you are beginning to notice. Across a few sessions, we may explore what has been happening, identify what feels stuck, and begin developing clearer next steps.

Often helpful for: initial clarity, specific decision-making, and beginning to understand a recurring pattern.

Growth Journey

Around 6–8 sessions

A deeper counselling journey for recurring emotional, relational, or life patterns that need more time and attention.

This may be suitable if you are noticing patterns in your relationships, self-worth, anxiety, boundaries, family dynamics, burnout, or the way you respond to yourself and others. Over time, we work towards greater emotional awareness, healthier coping, and more intentional ways of responding.

Often helpful for: self-worth, relationship patterns, emotional regulation, life transitions, identity, and personal growth.

Deep Recovery Journey

Around 10–12+ sessions

A longer-term counselling journey for experiences that may need gentler pacing, deeper processing, and more consistent support.

This may include trauma-informed work, adverse childhood experiences, inner child work, grief, family-of-origin patterns, or long-standing ways of coping that once helped you survive but may no longer support the life you want to live.

This work is not rushed. We begin by building safety, understanding your patterns, and strengthening your internal resources before moving into deeper processing where appropriate.

Often helpful for: trauma recovery, grief, childhood experiences, family-of-origin patterns, inner child work, and rebuilding a steadier sense of self.

FAQ

Questions you might have

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I’ll ask about what brought you here, what’s been going on, and what you’re hoping to get from counselling. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come — just showing up is enough. By the end, we’ll have a clearer picture of how we might work together.

Yes. What you share in sessions stays between us. Confidentiality has a small number of legal exceptions — specifically if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others. I will always explain these limits clearly before we begin.

This varies from person to person. Some people come for a focused block of 6 to 8 sessions. Others work with me over a longer period. We’ll review regularly so you always have a sense of where we are and where we’re heading. You are never locked in.

You can book directly through the booking link on this website by clicking Book a Session. From there, you can choose your session slot, confirm your payment, and complete your forms — all in one place.

Alternatively, you may reach out to me via WhatsApp by clicking Reach Out to Jerusha if you would like to ask a question or book a 15-minute online consultation before scheduling a full session.

I ask for at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed sessions may be charged at the full session rate.

Online counselling can be a helpful and accessible option for many concerns. What matters most is the therapeutic relationship, the suitability of the setting, and whether you feel able to engage safely and comfortably.

If I have concerns that online counselling may not be suitable for your current needs, I may recommend in-person sessions or discuss other appropriate support options with you.

If something has been weighing on you — even if you can’t fully name it yet — that’s reason enough to reach out. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. Many of my clients come in functioning well on the outside but knowing something needs to shift. That’s exactly who this space is for.
